As far as I can tell, Benjamin Kenobi wrote to Alle about 'DAT questions!', my reply would then be...
>Hey, I'm thinking of getting a DAT backup for my amiga and would like to
>hear the experiences of other amiga DAT users. Alsom, do you actually
>need to format DAT tapes before using them? If this is the case, are
>there any programs which support this on the amiga?
It all depends on the use of it. If you wish to use it for backup, Diavolo Pro is the way to go, it doesn't need to preformat it, but off course, a full erase might be a good idea.
If you wish to use it as a (slow) media, you can use Tapeworm-FS, it's slow (even on a DAT) but usable.
Also please note that there are different DAT standards, DDS-1 and DDS-2, the difference is in the locational logic, DDS-2 can get to the spot faster than DDS-1.
